The common mallow plant is a frequently seen and easy to recognise plant, it grows up to one metre high and is found almost anywhere.
The flowers appear from June to September, they are a light purply-pink colour with reddish veins, which give the flower an appearance of being striped, the fruits that follow are shaped like a polo mint and are known as 'cheeses'.
How To Gather And Store The Mallow Plant
Collect the leaves of the mallow plant from late March to May before the mallow has gone into flower, dry them and store in an air tight jar.
Collect mallow flowers from June to September, dry as you did the leaves and place in an air tight jar.

Mallow benefits: The common mallow plant is anti-inflammatory, it is good for the treatment of sore gums, sore throats, stomach irritation, constipation and general aches and pains. It is effective in treating a cough and soothing skin problems.
The young shoots of the common mallow can be boiled and eaten as a vegetable.
Mallow Remedies
Soothing Cough Mixture: Place two teaspoons of fresh torn up mallow flowers or herb in half a cup of cold water,cover and let mixture stand for at least four hours. Strain and add honey and lemon to taste. Take as you would cough syrup as often as needed.
Stomach Soothing Mallow Tea: Add one and a half teaspoons of mallow to a cup, pour on boiling water and cover and leave to infuse for twenty minutes, strain and drink.
